Congratulations on Mr. Zhen Song’s PhD dissertation defense

On Apr. 9, 2017, Mr. Zhen Song has successfully defensed his PhD dissertation entitled “Computer-aided screening and design of ionic liquids as solvents for deep extractive desulfurization processes of fuel oils”.

Mr. Zhen Song obtained his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and technology from Shandong University in June 2011. Then he joined our group to pursue his Ph.D. degree. From Sep. 2015 to Sep. 2016, he worked as a joint Ph.D. student at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems, Magdeburg/Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Kai Sundmacher.

Through his Ph.D. study, he mainly concentrated on systematic methods for theoretical selection of ionic liquids as separating solvents, with deep extractive desulfurization of fuel oils as an illustrative example. He has published 7 SCI-index papers and was awarded as an Excellent Student of ECUST in 2015. This year he graduated with the highest honor of Shanghai Outstanding Graduate.

Mr. Song will work as a postdoc researcher at the Max Planck Institute Magdeburg, within the Process Systems Engineering group directed by Prof. Kai Sundmacher.
